For us as HSPs, the art of detachment is really connected to the mastery of three significant HSP shadow tendencies: overwhelm, perfectionism, and analysis-paralysis.
When I first started having selling conversations, I used to get so worked up because I took the idea of being told "no" very personally. Of course, there was the genuine fear of being able to pay my bills, but I had to learn that though there is a connection between the service I provide and the bills I have to pay, they are NOT interconnected.
This is where the mastery part comes into the process. To be able to be 100% present to the person in front of me and to get clear about what the person needs by guiding them through a thoughtful, discovery, decision-making process, while receiving compensation as part of providing that service.
The more I learned to lean into this mastery practice and to trust the process, the calmer my nervous system became, the more fine-tuned my intuitive skills sharpened, and the more I was able to truly help, support, and serve those in front of me.
