this is the way

Sdfsdf, way, wayyy back in the Fall of 2019 - at what would unknowingly become (FOR NOW) the last in-person Business Miracles Training Retreat for Highly Sensitive Entrepreneurs and Leaders before #thisgodforsakenglobalpandemic - I introduced the concept of running a marathon as a metaphor for staying engaged in the "real work" of what's required to master your highly sensitive nervous system so it works for you rather than against you.

Little did I know at the time how very "prophetic" that teaching would be for the coming year of 2020, and beyond.

Fast forward from that Fall 2019 Training Retreat to this time last year (the beginning of the global pandemic), I reintroduced the concept of the marathon to address the massive rush of adrenaline that was surging through the community of highly sensitives I mentor. My leadership mentor recommendation at that time was to pay attention to the Power. Of. Pacing... in order for each Highly Sensitive Entrepreneur and Leader to be able to remain steady and strong for what I knew was going to be a long haul.

And now, as we enter into what (I hope) is the final stretch of this global pandemic marathon, I'm re-returning once again to this important metaphorical message of the marathon.

I've personally never actually run a marathon, so I don't know much about the logistics, but what I do know, and this is key, is that it's the final stretch of a marathon that is most challenging.

This is when the delirium of fatigue sets in.

And what happens when we're exhausted?

We start to feel a sense of helplessness and hopelessness.

It seems easier to just throw up our hands and quit.

When we're in the throes of this kind of despair, we're much more likely to act out of our Highly Sensitive Shadows and Shame Shield defenses with behaviors of overwhelm, overprotection, over-responsibility or defaulting into our Highly Sensitive Coping Mechanisms of Pushing, Hiding or Combo-plattering.

All as an attempt to desperately try to hold on to any shred of control that we THINK we have.

So, what do you do when we get to the place where we feel like this is never going to end, and we just can't go any farther?

You flip the switch.

You look back and you CELEBRATE just how far you've come.

You can celebrate whatever you want (even if it's just, "I brushed my teeth this morning!" :))

It's YOUR mark of success.

You get to choose.

This is the way we shift our energy from hopeless to hopeFULL.

This is the way we stay the course.

IN FAITH,

Heather
