what I’m reading, watching, listening to (and tools I’m using, too!)

Sdfsdf, I've been noticing an interesting energy in the air lately as we are at this very strange point in our shared global pandemic. Depending on where one lives, it's almost as if a different pandemic is happening. Yet, we are all still in it together even if some people/places want to pretend that we aren't at all. As Highly Sensitive Leaders we tend to feel "it" even if our head wants to ignore "it" – whatever the "it" may be at any given time – so now more than ever it's important to have a sense of personal agency and power when it comes to choosing the thoughts we think and the actions we take.

With that in mind, here's where I'm at this month …

1. They Believe in Ambitious Women by Claire Cain Miller (NY Times) –As a former high school teacher, I am always interested in what the "young people" are thinking, so I found this article fascinating. I know these Exceptional Times are going to have a long-term impact for all of us, but I, personally, have confidence in the upcoming generation to emerge stronger and better because of everything these past 12-18 months have delivered. If these girls are truly a sample of this generation, then I am going to say I'm right.

As a highly sensitive, I often find it really difficult to watch anything with violence, horror and even a lot of action (e.g. Marvel movies tend to put me to sleep because I find them so overstimulating; I just knock right out!). But when I know a movie has an important message, I don't want to avoid or over-protect myself from being able to have this experience, so I use the energy management tools I teach to support me and throw in some additional measures like not watching an intense film before going to bed. All three of these films fell into this category and each one of them was worth the extra effort.

1. Ma Rainey's Black Bottom (Netflix)

2. The Trial of The Chicago Seven (Netflix)

3. Judas and The Black Messiah (Amazon Prime)

1. Heather's 50th In Paris (Spotify) – My Team Member, Joëlle, created this special playlist to mark both my 50th birthday and the fact that I wasn't able to celebrate it in Paris as originally planned, pre-pandemic, and it is now truly my most favorite! I am listening to it all the time. I feel both Paris and the love with which it was created in every song.

1. How to Navigate The Secret Hell of Overwhelm – I am excited to now be delivering THREE live, small group mentoring sessions to emerging Highly Sensitive Leaders starting next week. I'll be sharing some of my most trusted tools and teachings during these special sessions that I personally use to manage the overwhelm that the highly sensitive nervous system can often easily experience. I've added an additional session as the first two filled up quickly. See if you're meant to join us here (this is the last session I'll add and we are over half full right now): www.highlysensitiveleaderinvite.com

Hope you find something useful (or just plain fun) in these recommendations to support yourself with keeping it all moving forward during these Exceptional Times as a Highly Sensitive Entrepreneur and Leader.

I'd love to hear what you're reading, watching and listening to as well; I'm always open to being introduced to something new and will happily give you credit if it's something I end up latching onto. Just hit "reply" and let me know.

We will continue to transcend these strange, strange times - together.

In Faith,

XO. Heather
