When I think about my first years in business, over 20 years ago, mostly what I remember is sweating a lot. I mean, like A. LOT. Not knowing I was a highly sensitive person, I was terrified most of the time, and, for me, that was my body's physiological go-to response.
Especially during selling conversations.
And since everything I was doing at that time was in person (internet marketing was brand new), I started bringing an extra change of clothes with me everywhere I went. Wow, I do not miss those days!
However, what I learned from extensive practice (and sweater changes) is that the highly sensitive nervous system does not respond well to pressure because of our reflective nature. Pressure tends to trigger "fight or flight" responses in us to the ninth degree, resulting in severe brain fog that affects our ability to reason and make decisions quickly.
All extremely NOT helpful when positioned to support another person in making a significant decision. Such as in a selling conversation.
Yet pressure was the only tactic I was taught in the sales courses I attended in those early years. Including coaches, at the time, who were teaching "spiritual selling". So, I took it upon myself to create a whole new way designed for the HSP nervous system, allowing me to lean into my HSP Strengths such as intuition and empathy.
The results? Well, I've been self-employed since 2003, so there's that. But, more importantly, to this day, I receive incredible feedback from those who experience my Clarity Call process, including, "that's one of the most spiritual experiences I've ever had." To me, that's evidence of high service.
